The Archdiocese of New Orleans filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in May 2020. The Archdiocese acknowledged that the filing was, in part, the consequence of decades of sexual abuse committed by members of the clergy. We are honored to represent survivors of clergy sexual abuse in connection with the Archdiocese of New Orleans Bankruptcy proceeding, and we can help claimants navigate the complexities of the bankruptcy, which can often seem intimidating and confusing to a sexual abuse survivor.
The bankruptcy court has imposed a “bar date” of March 1, 2021. The bar date is the deadline by which survivors of sexual abuse must file their claim against the Archdiocese. We can help claimants prepare their claim in advance of the bar date to ensure the best chance of full and fair compensation in this bankruptcy proceeding. Our attorneys are cognizant of the sensitive and emotional nature of these claims, and will work closely with survivors of sexual abuse in a respectful manner. Please contact us if you believe you’ve been a victim of sexual abuse by the Catholic Church.
